Mac and cheese balls
This is very easy and quick snacks for kids if you have leftover pasta in fridge.
Ingredients:
- Macroni pasta-3/4 cup
- Mixed herbs-1/4 tsp
- Black pepper powder-1/2 tsp
- Maida-1 tsp
- Milk-1 cup
- Cheddar cheese-1/4 cup
- Bread slices-as required
- Garlic-3 cloves
- Butter- 1 tsp
- Oil- to fry
- Salt- to taste
Method:
- Take water in a vessel and add salt and a tsp of oil in it.
- When it comes to boil add macroni pasta in it.
- Check it every now and then whether the pasta is done.
- Once done strain it and keep aside
- Now in a non stick pan add a tsp of butter when it melts add finely chopped garlic, and maida.
- Roast maida well and add milk little by little.
- When it reaches the sauce consistency add mixed herbs, salt and cheese.
- Mix well and turn off the stove.
- Add the pasta in it and mix well.
- Once this comes to room temperature keep it in fridge for 2 to 3 hours at least.( Leftover Mac and cheese makes work easier😜).
- Now heat oil in a kadai.
- Cut the sides of the bread, dip the bread in water, not too much just slight dip will do.
- Squeeze out the excess water.
- Keep the Mac and cheese in centre of the bread and make it into a ball.
- If you want you can add extra cheese.
- Now deep fry the balls untill golden brown.
- Serve with spicy mayo or regular mayo and tomato sauce.
Notes:
- Cheddar cheese works best ( I used milkymist cheddar cheese)
- For extra cheese stuffing you can use mozarella or the same cheddar. Both works good.
- In case you cannot roll your bread perfectly and it tears here and there, blend the bread( the side cut out portion can be used) in mixer and make bread crumbs out of it, roll it in this and make a good tight Mac and cheese balls.
