Mangalore bun
Makes-20 to 25 buns
Ingredients:
- Ripe banana -2 nos ( medium size)
- Maida/ all purpose flour- 3.5 cups
- Curd-1/4 cup
- Sugar- 1/2 cup
- Bicarbonate of soda-3 pinches
- Oil- to deep fry
- Asafoetida-few pinches
- Salt -1/2 tsp
Method:
- Mash the bananas well, add sugar to it and mix well till the sugar melts.
- Now add soda,salt,curd and mix well.
- Now add maida flour.
- And knead till it reaches chapathi dough consistency.
- Leave it overnight for fermentation.(Or At least 8 hours to ferment).
- Now roll it slightly thicker than poori and deep fry them.
- Serve hot.
- Goes best with coconut chutney.
Notes:
- I made using just half a banana and got 4 buns. Just two buns makes our stomach full.
- So be cautious while measuring the ingredients.
- The above measurements make 20 -25 buns.
- Oil should be hot enough when you fry.
