Mangalore bun


Makes-20 to 25 buns

Ingredients:

  • Ripe banana -2 nos ( medium size)
  • Maida/ all purpose flour- 3.5 cups
  • Curd-1/4 cup 
  • Sugar- 1/2 cup 
  • Bicarbonate of soda-3 pinches
  • Oil- to deep fry
  • Asafoetida-few pinches
  • Salt -1/2 tsp

Method:

  • Mash the bananas well, add sugar to it and mix well till the sugar melts.
  • Now add soda,salt,curd and mix well.
  • Now add maida flour.
  • And knead till it reaches chapathi dough consistency.
  • Leave it overnight for fermentation.(Or At least 8 hours to ferment).
  • Now roll it slightly thicker than poori and deep fry them.
  • Serve hot.
  • Goes best with coconut chutney.


Notes:

  • I made using just half a banana and got 4 buns. Just two buns makes our stomach full.
  • So be cautious while measuring the ingredients.
  • The above measurements make 20 -25 buns.
  • Oil should be hot enough when you fry.
