Cabbage thoran


 Serves - 3

Ingredients :

  • Cabbage grated or finely chopped - 3 cups
  • Shallots- 6 to 7
  • Coconut grated - 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt - To taste

To temper :

  • Coconut oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin/ jeera - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli - 2 -3
  • Curry leaves - A spring

Method :

  • Finely grate or chop the Cabbage.
  • Roughly chop the Shallots.
  •  Add this Shallots and Turmeric to the chopped Cabbage , mix it well and keep it aside for few mins.
  • Now in a pan add coconut oil and temper with items given under ' to temper'.
  • Add the Cabbage onion mixture to this.
  • Mix well and add salt to taste. Addo 1/4 cup water( add more water if necessary) and cook in medium flame.
  • Once the vegetable and onion gets cooked add the grated coconut and turn off the flame.
  • Serve.
