Vallara keerai/brahmi leaves soup

Vallara keerai/ brahmi leaves is known for its benefit of memory power. Make your kids eat vallara keerai twice a week to enhance their memory power. Though the leaves are quite bitter the way we cook the leaves will make us to overcome the bitterness.
Ingredients:
- Vallara keerai / brahmi leaves - 1 handful
- Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
- Garlic finely chopped - 1 tsp
- Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
- Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp ( or to taste)
- Turmeric powder- A pinch
- Onion -1 medium size
- Oil -2 tsp
- Cornflour - 1 tsp (optional)
- Salt - To taste
Method :
- Remove the leaf part of vallara keerai and wash them. Finely chop the onion and garlic.
- In a pan add oil followed by ginger garlic paste, finely chopped onion and garlic.
- Saute till onion ion turns transparent.
- Now add Cumin, Turmeric powder and salt.
- Saute for few seconds and add the leaves.
- Saute till leaves gets reduced in volume and gets cooked.
- Add 2 cups of water. When it comes to boil add the cornflour dissolved in water.
- Let it boil for a min. Turn of the flame,add pepper powder.
- Serve hot with rusk .
Notes:
- You can add aji no moto for extra flavour. I dint add as it is not good for health.
- I dint chop the leaves as I thought the soup may turn bitter. But you can also chop the leaves and proceed with soup making
- If so chop the leaves just before you add as it is not advisable to chop the leaves hours before you cook.
- Garlic is the main flavour in this soup,so please don't avoid it.
