Mullu murukku
Ingredients:
- Raw rice-2 cups
- Channa dhal-1/2 cup
- Moong dhal-1/2 cup
- Butter-1&1/2 tsp
- Red chilli powder-To taste
- Sesame seeds-1 tsp
- Salt- to taste
Method:
- Dry roast both the dhals till you get nice aroma.
- Add it to the raw rice and get it ground to very very fine powder in a mill.
- Now in a wide mouthed vessel add butter,red chilli powder, salt, sesame seeds and mix well till salt dissolves completely.
- Now add the ground flour, required water and knead it to smooth dough.
- Add a portion of the dough in a murukku press and make murukku on the back of a wide laddle.
- Drop the murukku on hot oil.
- Fry till the bubble subsides,turn them every now and then
- Store in a air tight container once it cools down
Notes:
- I didn't seive the flour.
- If you feel difficult in pressing murukku add some more water to the batter and knead again and try.
- Oil should be hot enough when you drop muruku.
- After dropping in oil put the flame on medium and cook evenly.
- Sprinkle water little by little while kneading the dough.
- This quantity makes more than 20 murukkus( depends on the size of murruku you make).
