Thenkuzhal
Ingredients:
- Raw rice-2 cups
- Urad dhal-1/4 cup
- Sesame seeds/ cumin-1 tsp
- Butter-2 tbsp
- Oil-1 to deep fry
- Asafoetida-1/4 tsp
- Salt- to taste
Method:
- Dry roast urad dhal, add it to rice and get it ground from mill.
- Now in a wide mouthed vessel mix butter,salt till salt melts.
- Then add rest of the ingredients ,mix well and add required water make a smooth ,soft dough without cracks.
- Using a murukku press make murukku on the back of a laddle and drop them in hot oil.
- Fry well and store them in air tight container.
Notes:
- Bring the butter to room temperature.
- You can also add oil instead of butter.
- Coarse flour will result in broken murukku.
- Keep the dough covered to avoid it from becoming dry.
