Thenkuzhal


Ingredients:

  • Raw rice-2 cups
  • Urad dhal-1/4 cup
  • Sesame seeds/ cumin-1 tsp
  • Butter-2 tbsp
  • Oil-1 to deep fry
  • Asafoetida-1/4 tsp
  • Salt- to taste

Method:

  • Dry roast urad dhal, add it to rice and get it ground from mill.
  • Now in a wide mouthed vessel mix butter,salt till salt melts.
  • Then add rest of the ingredients ,mix well and add required water make a smooth ,soft dough without cracks.
  • Using a murukku press make murukku on the back of a laddle and drop them in hot oil.
  • Fry well and store them in air tight container.







Notes:

  • Bring the butter to room temperature.
  • You can also add oil instead of butter.
  • Coarse flour will result in broken murukku.
  • Keep the dough covered to avoid it from becoming dry.
