Masala poli

Ingredients:

For stuffing:

  • Potato -2
  • Carrot-1
  • Beans-6 to7
  • Onion-1
  • Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala-1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
  • Oil-2 tsp
  • Salt- To taste

For Poli:

  • All purpose flour/ maida-2 cups
  • Oil-4 tbsp
  • Salt- 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  • Water - as required
  • Idly podi

Method:

  • Boil potatoes,peel the skin and grate it.
  • Finely chop the vegetables and pressure cook them for 2 whistles.
  • In a pan add oil, mustard seeds when it splutters add finely chopped onion.
  • Add salt and all the spice powders.
  • Mix and cook for a min.now add all the cooked vegetables and potato.
  • Mix well and add coriander leaves.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Now for dough mix all the ingredients with 4 tsp of oil add required water and bring it to soft chapathi dough consistency.
  • Add rest of the oil on the dough and let it rest for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Now take small part of the dough spread it on  banana leaf or on ziplock cover using your fingers and  keep potato stuffing make it into a ball and spread it again with your hands like paratha. Can dip your fingers in oil while spreading the Poli.
  • On a tawa, cook both sides of Poli, add oil while cooking  Poli. Finally sprinkle some idly podi on the Poli.
  • Serve hot.






Notes:

  • You can prepare the dough in advance and store it refrigerator. Take it out and bring it to room temperature before rolling.
  • Taste the stuffing before making Poli.
