Masala poli
Ingredients:
For stuffing:
- Potato -2
- Carrot-1
- Beans-6 to7
- Onion-1
- Red chilli powder-1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
- Garam masala-1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
- Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp
- Oil-2 tsp
- Salt- To taste
For Poli:
- All purpose flour/ maida-2 cups
- Oil-4 tbsp
- Salt- 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
- Water - as required
- Idly podi
Method:
- Boil potatoes,peel the skin and grate it.
- Finely chop the vegetables and pressure cook them for 2 whistles.
- In a pan add oil, mustard seeds when it splutters add finely chopped onion.
- Add salt and all the spice powders.
- Mix and cook for a min.now add all the cooked vegetables and potato.
- Mix well and add coriander leaves.
- Allow it to cool.
- Now for dough mix all the ingredients with 4 tsp of oil add required water and bring it to soft chapathi dough consistency.
- Add rest of the oil on the dough and let it rest for 3 to 4 hours.
- Now take small part of the dough spread it on banana leaf or on ziplock cover using your fingers and keep potato stuffing make it into a ball and spread it again with your hands like paratha. Can dip your fingers in oil while spreading the Poli.
- On a tawa, cook both sides of Poli, add oil while cooking Poli. Finally sprinkle some idly podi on the Poli.
- Serve hot.
Notes:
- You can prepare the dough in advance and store it refrigerator. Take it out and bring it to room temperature before rolling.
- Taste the stuffing before making Poli.
