Methi roti/ thepla



Makes 10 roti

I always wanted to make some dishe with methi leaves/ Vendhaya keerai.  But never bought Methi leaves. This time while shopping I got fresh Methi leaves/ Vendhaya keerai.Tried this roti and it was awesome.

Ingredients:


  • Methi leaves/ Vendhaya keerai- 3/4 cup 
  • Wheat flour/ attached- 1&1/2 cup
  • Cumin -1/2 tsp
  • Butter milk - As needed ( to make dough)
  • Oil -3 tbsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Salt - To taste


Method:


  • Remove the leaf part alone of methi/ Vendhaya keerai. Wash it twice. Chop them roughly.
  • In a pan add 1 tsp of oil and saute the leaves till they reduce in volume.
  • Now in a bowl add atta, Methi leaves and all the spice powders with oil and mix it well.
  • Add buttermilk for making the dough. Dough should be soft and pliable.
  • When the chapathi/ roti dough is ready apply oil on top of the dough and close the bowl to prevent it from becoming dry. Let it rest for about an hour.
  • Then knead it well, make equal sized balls and make it into rotis.
  • Serve hot with any raita or just plain curd and pickle.







Notes:


  • Adding buttermilk and oil makes your roti soft.
