Drumstick jackfruit seed sambar
Ingredients:
- Drumstick-2
- Jackfruit seed -7 to 8 nos
- Toor dhal -1/2 cup
- Tamarind extract-1/4 cup( a gooseberry size)
- Sambar powder-2 tsp
- Coriander leaves- for garnish
To temper:
- Oil-2 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida- few pinches
- Curry leaves- few
Method:
- First allow the jackfruit seeds to dry completely, you can sundry them for a day.
- Peel off the white part of the seed.
- Pressure cook it in a cooker for 3 to 4 whistles. Also pressure cook toor dhal.
- Now in a pan add oil and temper with items mentioned above.
- Then add drumstick, add salt, water for the drumstick to get cooked.
- Once it's done add tamarind extract, sambar powder allow it to cook for 3 to 4 mins and then add toor dhal, cooked jackfruit seeds,required water ( to the consistency you prefer).
- Allow it to boil for a min. Finally add coriander leaves and serve with rice.
Notes:
- Add more or less dhal to your preference.
- Jackfruit seeds tastes amazing when it is added to sambar.
- You can make sambar with Jack fruit seeds alone. Or combine with any other vegetables you prefer.
