Idiyappam/ string hoppers


Ingredients:

  • Rice flour- 1 cup
  • Water - as needed
  • Sesame oil-1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste

Method:

To make rice flour:

  • Soak raw rice for 3 hours, dry them under fan on a clean towel.
  • Once dried take it to a flour mill and grind it very finely.
  • Store them in a air tight container and use it as and when required.
Now we can make idiyappam with this rice flour.
  • Heat 2 cups of water,add salt and a tsp of oil in it.
  • Now add the hot water little by little to the rice flour,as your mixing and kneading it well.
  • Once you get nice ,soft dough stuff it in a idiyappam maker.
  • Grease the plate with oil in which you are going to steam idiyappam.
  • Press idiyappam maker just like you press murukku.
  • Steam for about 6 to 7 mins.
  • Serve hot with kurma.






Notes:

  • You can use store bought idiyappam flour, in this case be cautious while adding salt.
