Broad beans ( Avarakkai) poriyal
Ingredients:
- Broad beans/ Avarakai- 2 cups ( chopped)
- Red chilli powder- 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/8 tsp
- Coconut ( grated)-2 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
To temper:
- Oil- 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal- 1 tsp
- Curry leaves- a spring
- Asafoetida- Few pinches
Method:
- In a pan temper with items mentioned under 'to temper'. Add the chopped broad beans, sprinkle some water and cook it covered in a low flame.
- Ever now and then stir it and and add water if required.
- Once the vegetable is cooked add in all the spice powders, salt and mix well.
- Finally add grated coconut and saute for one more min.
- Serve.
