Samba wheat rava upma
Serves-2
Ingredients:
- Samba wheat rava-1 cup
- Onion-1
- Carrot,peas-1/2 cup
- Green chilli-2 to 3
- Water-3 cups
- Coriander leaves- for garnish
- Salt- to taste
To temper:
- Oil-2 tsp
- Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/2 tsp
- Channa dhal-1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida - a generous pinch
- Curry leaves- few
Method:
- Roast samba wheat rava with little ghee for about 2 mins ( this is optional if you have already roasted one) .
- Now in a kadai add oil and temper with items mentioned under'to temper'.
- Then add finely chopped onion,slit green chilli,and chopped Vegetables.
- Cook for 5 mins add 3 cups of water,salt to taste and when water boils add wheat rava.
- Mix well, keep the flame in low and cook it covered. Mix once in-between.
- Once done garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with sambar/ Kuzhambu.
Notes:
- You can make without vegetables also.
- Roasting wheat rava gives good aroma to the upma.
