Samba wheat rava upma

Serves-2

Ingredients:

  • Samba wheat rava-1 cup
  • Onion-1
  • Carrot,peas-1/2 cup
  • Green chilli-2 to 3
  • Water-3 cups
  • Coriander leaves- for garnish
  • Salt- to taste

To temper:

  • Oil-2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
  • Urad dhal-1/2 tsp
  • Channa dhal-1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a generous pinch
  • Curry leaves- few

Method:

  • Roast samba wheat rava with little ghee for about 2 mins ( this is optional if you have already roasted one) .
  • Now in a kadai add oil and temper with items mentioned under'to temper'.
  • Then add finely chopped onion,slit green chilli,and chopped Vegetables.
  • Cook for 5 mins add 3 cups of water,salt to taste and when water boils add wheat rava.
  • Mix well, keep the flame in low and cook it covered. Mix once in-between.
  • Once done garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with sambar/ Kuzhambu.




Notes:

  • You can make without vegetables also.
  • Roasting wheat rava gives good aroma to the upma.
