Elephant foot yam poriyal:
Serves -2
Ingredients:
- Elephantr foot yam/(karunai kizhangu) -1 cup chopped into small cubes
- Red chilli powder -3/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Tamarind water -1/4 cup
- Salt -To taste
To temper:
- Oil -2 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal -1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves -Few
- Asafoetida -A generous pinch
Method:
- Clean the yam and chop it into small cubes.
- Cook the yam three fourth by adding salt, turmeric powder and little tamarind water.
- Now in a pan temper with items given under to temper and add 3/4 th cooked yam.
- When it its fully done add red chilli powder.Mix well and serve.
Notes:
- Apply oil in your hands when you are chopping yam as it may cause itching tendency.
