Barnyard millet/ Kuthiraivalli idli and dosa
Ingredients:
- Barnyard millet/ Kuthiraivalli- 2cups
- Poha/ aval-1/2 cup
- Fenugreek seeds/ Vendhayam -1 tsp
- Urad dhal- 1/2 cup
- Salt - As needed
Method:
- Soak Urad dhal and rest of the items separately for 3 to 4 hours.( wash millet twice or thrice before soaking)
- Grind them in a mixie or wet grinder.
- Grind Urad dhal separately. Do not add more water while grinding millet mixture.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Leave them for overnight fermentation.
- Make dosa and idly with the Batter.
Notes:
- Initially the millet mixture will be quite runny but it will be ok after fermentation.
- Though I addied very less water while grinding my millet mixture was quite runny but the next day it got fermented and was in right consistency.
- Add more water while grinding Urad dhal. Urad dhal batter must not be stiff.
