Tomato garlic rasam


Serves-3 to 4

Ingredients:

  • Tomato -2&1/2 nos
  • Garlic -7 to 8 nos
  • Green chilli -2
  • Coriander leaves-2 tbsp
  • Tamarind - gooseberry size
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Jaggery-1/8 tsp ( optional)
  • Ghee- 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves-1
  • Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp
  • Rasam powder -1&1/2 tsp
  • Jaggery-1/8 tsp ( optional)
  • Salt- to taste

Method:

  • In a kadai add ghee and temper with mustard seeds,curry leaves and asafoetida.
  • Now add roughly ground garlic,green chilli mixture( just give two pulses in your mixer)
  • Cook for about a min and add finely chopped tomato.
  • Cook till tomato turns mushy. Then add rasam powder,turmeric powder, coriander leaves ,required salt. Cook for about  a min .
  • Extract tamarind juice by adding 2 cups of water to the tamarind. ( Add more water if required).
  • Add this tamarind water to the cooked tomato.
  • When it is about to boil,turn off the flame. 
  • Serve hot.





Notes:

  • Can be served as appetizer.
