Gooseberry pickle




Ingredients:

  • Gooseberry-20 nos
  • Mustard seeds-3 tbsp
  • Fenugreek seeds -1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- 3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  • sesame oil-1/4 cup
  • Asafoetida-1/2  tsp
  • salt- 4 tbsp

Method:

  • Wash the goose berries and steam them for 10 mins using idli plate.
  • After steaming you will see cracked berries.
  • Using a tissue paper wipe out excess water on the berries.
  • Now in a pan roast mustard seeds and genugreek seeds. Powder them in a mixer.
  • Now  in the same pan add oil, when it is hot turn off the flame and all the spice powders and salt.
  • Mix well and add the steamed gooseberries.
  • Mix well.
  • Let it sit for two days nefore consuming for bettter taste.
  • Store in air tight container and refrigerate.







Notes:

  • Sesame oil works best.
  • using rock salt is preferable.
