Gooseberry pickle
Ingredients:
- Gooseberry-20 nos
- Mustard seeds-3 tbsp
- Fenugreek seeds -1 tsp
- Red chilli powder- 3 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
- sesame oil-1/4 cup
- Asafoetida-1/2 tsp
- salt- 4 tbsp
Method:
- Wash the goose berries and steam them for 10 mins using idli plate.
- After steaming you will see cracked berries.
- Using a tissue paper wipe out excess water on the berries.
- Now in a pan roast mustard seeds and genugreek seeds. Powder them in a mixer.
- Now in the same pan add oil, when it is hot turn off the flame and all the spice powders and salt.
- Mix well and add the steamed gooseberries.
- Mix well.
- Let it sit for two days nefore consuming for bettter taste.
- Store in air tight container and refrigerate.
Notes:
- Sesame oil works best.
- using rock salt is preferable.
