Tomato Thokku (using pressure cooker)
Serves-2
Ingredients:
- Onion-1
- Tomato-3 medium size
- Red chilli powder-1 tsp
- Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder-1&1/4 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste-1/4 tsp
- Coriander leaves- for garnish
- Sugar- few pinches
- Salt- to taste
To temper:
- Oil- 3 tbsp
- Mustard seeds-1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal-1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves - few
- Asafoetida- few pinches
Method:
- In a pressure cooker add oil and temper with items mentioned under 'to temper'.
- Add finely chopped onion, saute for 2 mins and add finely chopped tomato.
- Add all the spice powders,salt,sugar and add 1&1/2 cup of water.
- Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
- After the pressure releases cook the thokku
- For some more time till the water evaporates and thokku thickens.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
- This Thokku goes well with all the items.
Notes:
- You can add equal quantity of onion and tomato.
