Moongdhal payasam


Serves- 3 to 4

Ingredients:

  • moong dhal- 1/2 cup
  • Milk-2 cups( or as required)
  • Jaggery-1/2 cup ( or as required)
  • Cardamom powder- Few pinches
  • Ghee-1 tsp
  • cashew nut- as required
  • Raisins- As required
  • coconut gratings-1 tbsp
  • salt- a small pinch

Method:

  • Pressure cooker moong dhal for 3 to 4 whistles.
  • Once pressure settles down mash them well.
  • In a sauce pan melt jaggery and strain them from impurities.
  • Add this to the moong dhal mixture and stir well. When it boils turn off the flame and add milk, cardamom powder.
  • Fry cashew and raisins in ghee and add this to the payasam.Add coconut gratings.
  • Add a pinch of salt and mix
  • Mix well and serve.






Notes:

  • Adding coconut gratings gives a good texture and taste to the payasam.
