Sathu maavu/ Health mix
Ingredients:
- Ragi-2 cups
- Kambu-2 cup
- Corn-1 cup
- Soya beans-1 cup
- Peanuts-1/2 cup
- Roasted gram dhal/ pottukadalai -1/4 cup
- Javvarisi/ sago- 1/4 cup
- Barley-2 tbsp
- Mattarisi/ brown rice-1 cup
- Wheat-1 cup
- White corn-1 cup
- Green gram dhal-3/4 cup
- Cardamom-2 tbsp
You can always adjust the quantity of ingredients to your preference. Or you can also omit few.
Add the below ingredients if making for kids. Not necessary for adults.This is optional.Or you can add less of these ingredients. Adding so many types and quantity of nuts makes the health mix quite coarse. So you can avoid if you want a fine health mix.
- Cashew nut-1 cup
- Almonds-1 cup
- Pistachios-1 cup
- Walnut-1 cup
Method:
- Roast each items mentioned above separately.
- Let it cool down and get it ground in Mill.
- Once bought ground from Mill allow it to cool completely,store in air tight container and refigerate.
- Use as and when required.
- If you want you can powder nuts at home and store separately.
- You can mix the nuts powder with rest of the powdered ingredients or store it separately and add a tsp of it with the regular sathu maavu while making porridge.
Notes:
- The above mentioned quantity lasts for about two to three months if consumed daily( depends on how much you use).
- You can sun dry the nuts and then powder them for better results.
- there are raw materials roasted and sold( pic reference above)you can purchase that and add more of few items like cashew and almond of your choice and then get it grind in a mill.
- You can also make sathu maavu ladoo with the above powder.
