Sambar vadai


Ingredients:

  • Urad dhal -1 cup
  • Raw rice-1 tbsp
  • Cumin-1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida- a pinch
  • Finely chopped onion- for garnish
  • Coriander - for garnish
  • Salt - to taste

For sambar:

Method:

  • Wash and soak urad dhal + raw rice for 2 hours.
  • Grind it in wet grinder or mixie ( If using mixie keep the soaked urad dhal in refrigerator).
  • Add maximum of 3 tbsp of water while grinding. Not more than that.
  • Grind it to a thick fluffy batter . 
  • After grinding add cumin,salt and asafoetida.
  • Mix well.
  • Dip your hands in water,take a little batter flatten it and make  whole in centre using  your thumb.
  • Deep fry in oil. Oil must must be hot enough.
  • In a mild warm water soak the vadas for 2 mins.
  • Now mix little water in your sambar of its thick. It should be little watery. 
  • In a bowl place the soaked vadai, pour the hot sambar.
  • Garnish it with finely chopped onion and coriander.









Note:

  • Raw onion gives a hotel taste to your sambar vadai.😜
  • Instead of raw rice you can add raw rice flour too.
