Bottle gourd kootu
Serves -3
Ingredients:
- Bottle gourd -1 medium size
- Moong dhal- 1/2 cup+1 tbsp
- Coconut -1/2 cup grated
- Turmeric powder -1/8 tsp
- Cumin-1 tsp
- Green chilli-3 to 4
- Curry leaves- few
- Coriander leaves-1 tbsp
- Oil-1 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1/2 tap
- Asafoetida- a generous pinch
- Salt-to taste
Method:
- Wash the bottle gourd peel off the skin and remove the white flesh part of it.
- Chop it into cubes.
- In a pressure cooker add moong dhal, chopped bottle gourd,turmeric powder, salt ,2 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles or till the moong dhal gets cooked.
- Now grind coconut,cumin and green chilli to a fine paste.
- Add this ground mixture to the cooked moong dhal. Mix well add required water,salt.
- When it comes to boil turn off the flame ,add coriander leaves and temper it with mustard seeds, curry leaves , asafoetida.
