Onion vadam




Ingredients:

  • Rice -1 cup
  • Water -3 to 3&1/2 cups
  • Shallots-15 to 20 nos
  • Cumin-1 tsp
  • Green chilli - as required
  • Salt- 3/4tsp

Method:

  • Wash rice twice.
  • Grind shallots,green chilli,cumin and salt.
  • Add this paste to rice and add 3 cups of water.
  • Pressure cook for 6 to 7 whistles.
  • Once done mash the rice well so that it turns mushy.
  • Now pinch them in a plastic sheet or plate as vadams.
  • Sun dry for two days.
  • Do not forget to turn  the vadams and sundry once again.
  • Store them in a air tight container and deep fry them as and when required.




Notes:

  • Add very less salt as it will be salty once it is dried.
  • Add 1/2 more cup of water if necessary while mixing the rice.
