Cluster beans Usli

Usli is a type of poriyal which is made with beans/cluster beans and channa dhal.. I love usli. But it takes some time to make it.. But the time taken is worth for the dish.It suits best for all dishes.I love to have it with rasam and curd rice.
Ingredients:
- Channa dhal -1/2 cup
- Cluster beans -1 cup (chopped)
- Red chilli -4 nos
- Oil -4 to 5 tbsp
- Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida -A generous pinch
- Curry leaves -Few
- Salt -To taste
Method:
- Soak channa dhal and red chilli for about 1 to 1&1/2 hours.
- Grind it coarsely.
- Chop cluster beans and cook them till soft(Pressure cook it for 2-3 whistles).
- In a pan add oil,mustard seeds,curryleaves,asafoetida then add grinded channa dhal and salt to taste.
- Cook it well till channa dhal stops sticking to the sides of the pan.
- Then add cooked cluster beans and mix well.
- Serve.
Notes:
- Add red chilli while tempering if you feel that spice is not enough.
- Usli will generally consume more oil so be generous with oil.
