Garlic dhal
Serves -3
This is same as dhal which I have posted before.Actually my husband told me this recipe when i was making dhal for chappathi. He told me that when he was in US (Of course he was a bachelor ;)) he used to make dhal and temper it with garlic and onion. So I too tried this and tasted good.Ingredients:
- Moong dhal -1/2cup
- Tomato -1
- Coriander leaves -1 handful
- Green chilli -3 nos
- Water -1&1/2 cup
- Lemon -1/2 (optional)
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Salt -To taste
To temper:
- Oil -2 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal -1/2 tsp
- Onion -1
- Garlic -5-6 pods
- Curry leaves -Few
- Asafoetida -A generous pinch
Method:
- Add all the above main ingredients in a vessel add water and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
- Finely chop onion and garic.
- Once the dhal is done mash it well and temper it with items given under 'to temper'.
- Squeeze lemon finally.
- Serve with roti/chappathi.
