Aachari paneer

The name of the dish itself was quite interesting to me.To my surprise this dish has no garam masala in it.Came out perfect and tasted excelent.

Ingredients:

To dry roast:


  • Dry Red chilli -5-6 nos
  • Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds/vendhayam/-1/4 tsp
  • Coriander seeds -2 tsp
  • Cumin/jeera -1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds-1/4 tsp(optional)

For gravy:


  • Oil -3 tbsp
  • Paneer cubes -15
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste -1/2 tsp
  • Onion -1 large
  • Tomato -1 large
  • Capsicum -1 medium size
  • Yoghurt -1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
  • Sugar -1/4 tsp
  • Salt -To taste

Method:


  • Dry roast all the ingredients given under 'to dry roast'.Make them into coarse powder.
  • Now add tomato and capsicum to that powder and make a fine paste without adding water.
  • In a pan add oil,Onion and salt.Saute till onion becomes golden brown.Now add ginger garlic paste.
  • Saute well.Now add the grinded paste and cook it till oil oozes out.
  • Beat the yoghurt nicely and then add it to the gravy.
  • Let it boil for 2 more mins.
  • Now add paneer cubes and sugar.
  • Finally add coriander leaves and turn off the gas.
  • Serve with roti/phulkas/chappathi or with any mild pulao varieties or with jeera pulao.


















Notes:


  • You can fry  paneer and add.
  • I added kashmiri red chilli so that it will give good colour to the dish.
  • If sourness is not enough you can add 1/4-1/2 tsp of amchoor powder.
