Paneer Mutter Masala

Paneer mutter masala is similar to paneer butter masala with little extra ingredients.I hate peas and I started having it for the first time when it was added in this yummy gravy.A perfect side dish for Naan/chapathi/roti/phulkas.

Ingredients:

To temper:

  • Butter/oil -1 tbsp
  • Bay leaf -1
  • Cardamom -1
  • Cloves -2
  • Cinnamon -1 small stick
  • Cumin -1 tsp

For grinding:

  • Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp
  • Oil -1 tsp
  • Onion -2 
  • Tomato -2-3
  • Cashewnuts -4-5 nos
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp

For gravy:

  • Paneer cubes-15-20 nos
  • Peas -1 cup
  • Red chilli powder -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder -1 tsp
  • Garam masala -1/4 tsp
  • Kasoori methi -1/2 tsp
  • Milk  -1/2-3/4 cup
  • Sugar -1/4 tsp
  • Salt -To taste

Method:

  • In a pan add oil/butter and add cashew,onion,turmeric powder,Ginger garlic paste.
  • When onion turns transparent add tomatoes.Cook till it turns mushy.
  • Blend it to a paste in a mixer.
  • Now in pan add oil/butter followed by whole garam masala,cumin.
  • Now add the blended puree and cook well.Add the Spice powders now.Mix well
  • Now add peas.Mix well.
  • Add milk little by little and stir.Incorporate entire milk in this way.
  • Now add Kasoori methi,paneer cubes and sugar.
  • Serve with naan/chapathi.














Notes:

  • You can avoid milk and add water but the richness of gravy will be missing.
  • I used fresh peas so i added as such.If you are using fresh peas first pressure cook it and then add it to the gravy.
  • You can also add cream for the richness of gravy.
