Beetroot Pulao

Pulao made out of beetroot!?!?!?!I was quite astonished when I came across this recipe.I also thought that beetroot would spoil the entire dish due to its colour and taste.But when I tried this out it came out perfect.Tasted great.Do not miss this pulao.
Ingredients:
- Beetroot -1/2 cup
- Peas -1/4-1/2 cup
- Basmati rice -1 cup
- Coconut milk -1&1/2 cup
- Red chilli powder -1 tsp
- Coriander powder -1&1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Green chilli -2
- Coriander leaves -2 tsp
- Onion -1
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Cardamom -1
- Cloves -2
- Bay leaf -1
- Cinnamon -1 small stick
- Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp
- Salt -To taste
Method:
- Soak basmati rice for 30 mins.
- In a pan add oil followed by whole garam masala.Then add sliced onions, salt and saute well.
- Then add ginger garlic paste,saute till raw smell disappears.
- Now add beetroot and peas.Saute for 3 mins.
- Then add all the spice powders.Saute well.
- In 1&1/2 cup of lukewarm water mix 3 tbsp of coconut milk powder,
- Add this to the beetroot mixture.
- When it comes to boil add the soaked basmati rice and coriander leaves.
- If you are pressure cooking cook for 3 whistles.
- Serve with onion raita.
Notes:
- I used frozen peas and rice cooker for cooking.
- I used one small sized beetroot.
- Soaking basmati rice gives you long and soft grains.
