Andhra podi rice

In my grandfather's hotel which is in tirupati they serve this podi for lunch.Once my grandmother bought this hotel podi to our home.WOW so spicy and tasty.Later got this recipe from my grandmother.Pakka podi to have with rice and also one of the best variety rice for lunch box.Do try this.Ingredients:
- Channa dhal -3 tbsp
- Cumin -1 tsp
- Whole black pepper -1/2 tsp
- Red chilli -7-8
- Salt -To taste
To temper:
- Oil -1 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves -Few
- Dry red chilli -1
- Asafoetida -A pinch
Method:
- Dry roast channa dhal,red chilli ,cumin and black pepper .
- Cool them,add salt and grind them to fine powder.
- Now in cooked rice,mix 2 tsp of powder and temper it with items given under 'to temper'.
- Mix well.Check for salt and serve.
Notes:
- Increase or decrease red chilli and black pepper as per your wish.
- You can also have this rice without tempering.
- But temper if you are making it for lunch box.
- Add extra oil if it is necessary while you are mixing it with rice.
- Store rest of the powder in air tight container.
