Channa Pulao

We always make sundal and channa masala with white channa.So why not try some different recipe with that.Once my mom made this channa pulao.It din't turn out well.So I thought of not doing it.One day since I had lot of leftover cooked channa I felt like doing this pulao.Kept my fingers crossed,as I had no hope in the final result.But it was very tasty and I got lot of appreciation from all.A perfect item for lunch box.Ingredients;
- Basmati rice -1 cup
- Cooked white channa -1 cup
- Oil -1 tbsp
- Cardamom -1
- Cinnamon -1 small stick
- Cloves -2
- Ginger garlic paste -1/2 tsp
- Onion -1
- Green chilli -3
- Channa masala powder -1 tsp
- Water -1&1/2 cup
- Coriander leaves -1 tbsp
- Salt -To taste
Method:
- Soak channa over night.Add salt and pressure cook it for 4-5 whistles.
- Soak basmati rice for 20-30 mins.
- In a pan add oil followed by whole garam masala.
- Then add onion, green chilli followed by ginger garlic paste.
- Saute till onion turns transparent.
- Now add soaked rice and channa masala powder.
- Add water and then add cooked channa.Finally add coriander leaves and pressure cook for 3 whistles.(I used rice cooker).
- Serve with onion raita.
Notes:
- Some may feel this pulao heavy as it has channa in it.
- Rich in protein and good for health.
