Channa Pulao

We always make sundal and channa masala  with white channa.So why not try some different recipe with that.Once my mom made this channa pulao.It din't turn out well.So I thought of not doing it.One day since I had lot of leftover cooked channa I felt like doing this pulao.Kept my  fingers crossed,as I had no hope in the final result.But it was very tasty and I got lot of appreciation from all.A perfect item for lunch box.

Ingredients;

  • Basmati rice -1 cup
  • Cooked white channa  -1 cup
  • Oil -1 tbsp
  • Cardamom -1
  • Cinnamon -1 small stick
  • Cloves -2
  • Ginger garlic paste -1/2 tsp
  • Onion -1
  • Green chilli -3
  • Channa masala powder -1 tsp
  • Water -1&1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves -1 tbsp
  • Salt -To taste

Method:

  • Soak channa over night.Add salt and pressure cook it for 4-5 whistles.
  • Soak basmati rice for 20-30 mins.
  • In a pan add oil followed by whole garam masala.
  • Then add onion, green chilli followed by ginger garlic paste.
  • Saute till onion turns transparent.
  • Now add soaked rice and channa masala powder.
  • Add water and then add cooked channa.Finally add coriander leaves and pressure cook for 3 whistles.(I used rice cooker).
  • Serve with onion raita.









Notes:

  • Some may feel this pulao heavy as it has channa in it.
  • Rich in protein and good for health.
