Channa Masala

Poori then channa masala comes as a default side dish (Ya I agree even potato masala is in the default list)..So tasty and makes us to eat more poori/roti.Lets see the procedure.

Ingredients:

  • White channa -1 cup 
  • Onion -1 large
  • Tomato -1&1/2
  • Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
  • Channa masala powder -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp(optional)
  • Green chilli -2
  • Salt -To taste

To temper:

  • Oil -2 tsp
  • Cumin/jeera -1 tsp
  • Cardamom -2
  • Cinnamon -1
  • Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp

Method:

  • Soak channa dhal overnight and pressure cook it with salt and turmeric powder for 4-5 whistles.
  • Now in a pan temper with items given under 'to temper'.
  • Then add chopped onion followed by ginger garlic paste.
  • Saute till raw smell disappears.Then add chopped tomatoes,green chilli,salt.Cook till it turns mushy.
  • Then add channa masala powder,turmeric powder(optional).
  • Add water.Now grind 3-4 tbsp of cooked channa dhal in a mixie and add it (by doing this you will get a thicker consistency for your masala).
  • Now add the pressure cooked channa to it.
  • When it comes to boil,add coriander leaves.
  • When you serve just add some raw onion on the top of masala(it really enhances the taste).










                                      

Notes:

  • Adjust the spiciness as you wish.You can add red chilli powder also for extra spice.
