Beans poriyal

I started eating beans only after getting married.One day my MIL  made  it and I liked the taste.She added moong dhal and coconut scrapings which enhanced the taste of the poriyal.From then on I
started making beans poriyal in her way.

Ingredients:

  • Beans,(chopped) -2cups
  • Water -1/4 cup
  • Coconut scrapings -1/4 cup
  • Moong dhal -1 tbsp
  • Salt -To taste

To temper:

  • Oil -1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli -1
  • Asafoetida -A pinch

Method:

  • Pressure cook beans with little water.
  • In a pan temper with items given under 'to temper'.
  • Add cooked beans, moong dha,salt.
  • Cook till moong dhal turns soft.Finally add coconut scrapings.







Notes:

  • You can avoid pressure cooking beans and add it directly after tempering.
