Red chilli chutney

I always search for different types of chutney as I'm getting bored with usual tomato and coconut chutney.This chutney is very easy to make and involves very less number of ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • Oil -1 tbsp
  • Red chilli -15 nos
  • Channa dhal -1 tbsp
  • Tamrind - A small marble size
  • Coconut grated - 1/4 cup 
  • Water -To grind
  • Slat -To taste

To temper:

  • Oil -1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Channa dhal -1/4 tsp
  • Urad dhal -1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves -1 spring

Method:

  • In a pan add oil, channa dhal,red chilli and tamrind and roast it properly.
  • Then add coconut gratings and roast it.
  • Add salt,water and grind it.
  • Temper it with items given under 'to temper'.
  • Serve it  with idli/dosa.




Notes:

  • If your red chilli is very spicy add less.
  • If chutney is very spicy you can adjust it by adding more oil while tempering.
