Mint chutney

This is my mother's recipe.She used to make this chutney whenever there is mint at home.I use to have this as a side dish for rasam and curd rice.Just this chutney with curd rice is one of the best lunch to me.

Ingredients:

  • Mint -2cups
  • Urad dhal -1/2 cup
  • Whole red chilli -6-7 nos
  • Tamrind -A small piece
  • Oil -1tbsp
  • Salt -To taste
  • Water -To grind

Method:

  • Wash mint leaves and keep aside.
  • In a pan add oil,then add urad dhal followed by red chilli and tamrind.
  • When Urad dhal turns golden brown add Mint leaves.
  • Cook till Mint leaves reduces in size.
  • Allow it to cool and grind it with salt and water.
  • Serve it with hot steaming rice.






Notes:

  • If you want you can add coconut while grinding.
  • This chutney should not be runny.It must be thick enough so that you can mix it with rice.
