Yellow peas sundal/Beach Sundal

I call this sundal as 'Thenga maanga pattani sundal'.We get this sundal only in beach and they serve it in paper cones with extra mango on top of it.Very yummy and refreshing.Those who had gone to beach would have definitely tasted this sundal .It is very unique in taste.
Ingredients:
- Yellow peas -1 cup
- Carrot,grated -1/2 cup
- Raw mango,grated-1/2 cup
- Coconut,grated -1/4 cup
- Tomato -1/4cup
- Onion -1/4 cup
- Green chilli -1
- Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
- Curry leaves -1 spring
- Red chilli powder -1/2 tsp
- Oil -1 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida -1/4 tsp
- Salt -To taste
Method:
- Soak yellow peas over night and pressure cook it with turmeric powder ,salt and 2-3 cups of water.
- Grate carrot,mango,coconut and finely chop tomato,green chilli and onion.
- In a pan add oil,mustard seeds,asafoetida.
- Then add cooked peas,red chilli powder,salt (if needed).
- Then add all the grated and chopped items.Mix well.
- While you serve top it with extra mango and onion.
Notes:
- You can avoid coconut if you don't like.I din't add.
- As I like mango I added more. You can add less also.
- But remember the sour punch which mango gives is ultimate.
- Green chilli is optional.
