Ponnakanni keerai poriyal

I remember a saying in tamil "பொன்னாங்கண்ணி சாப்பிட்டால்  மேனி பொன் போல் ஆகும் ".Which means eating ponnakanni makes our skin glitter like gold.I don't know whether it is true or not but I can guarantee you that it is healthy and tasty..

Ingredients:


  • Ponnakanni keerai -1 bunch
  • Coconut scarpings -1/4 cup
  • Moong dhal -1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Water -1/4 cup
  • Sugar -A pinch
  • Salt -To taste

To temper:


  • Oil -1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Channa dhal -1/4 tsp
  • Urad dhal -1/4 tsp
  • Whole red chilli -2 


Method:


  • Separate only the leaf part  of Ponnakanni. Wash twice and keep it aside.
  • In a pan temper with items given under 'to temper'.
  • Then add the leaves and moong dhal.
  • Add water,turmeric powder ,salt and mix well.
  • Close the pan with a lid and cook in medium flame.
  • Stir in between add more water if it is not enough.
  • When leaves are cooked add coconut scrapings and a pinch of sugar.
  • Serve.






Notes:

  • You can avoid moong dhal.Adding moong dhal gives good taste.
