White channa sundal method 1

When compared to black channa, white channa is much softer in texture.There are two methods in making any sundal variety and this is a type which involves no grinding.Try this and enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • White channa -1cup
  • Coconut scrappings -1/4-1/2 cup
  • Ginger -1 inch piece
  • Green chilli -1
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Salt -To taste

To temper:

  • Oil -2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  • Urad dhal -1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida -1/4tsp
  • Curry leaves -1 spring

Method:

  • Soak channa overnight.Pressure cook it with 2-3 cups of water,turmeric powder and salt for 3 whistles.
  • Temper with items given under 'to temper'.
  • Add finely chopped ginger and green chilli.
  • Then add cooked channa stir well.
  • Finally add coconut scrappings. 
  • Check for salt and serve.




Notes:

  • Take care while adding salt as it is pressure cooked with salt.
  • You can replace  green chilli  with whole red chilli.
  • You can avoid ginger.But it is good for digestion.
