Tomato Pepper Rasam

I always wanted to try what is thakkali rasam and how it is different from usual rasam.When I searched through net I got this recipe.Totally different recipe from what I expected.I really loved this rasam.
Ingredients:
For grinding 1:
- Pepper -1 tsp
- Cumin/jeera -1 tsp
- Garlic -2 cloves
- Ginger -1 inch piece
- Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
For grinding 2:
- Tomatoes -2
For rasam:
- Tomato -1 no
- Ghee-1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves -1 spring
- Coriander leaves -For garnish
- Salt -To taste
- Water -1 cup
Method:
- Grind all the ingredients coarsely given under 'for grinding 1'.
- Then grind the tomatoes separately.
- Now in a pan add ghee,mustard seeds, when it pops add curry leaves.
- Then add the grinded mixture saute for two mins and then chopped tomatoes.
- When tomatoes turn soft add tomato puree.Boil till raw flavour of tomato disappears.
- Add salt and water and boil for 2 more mins.
Notes:
- I added 1&1/2 tsp of pepper so it was very spicy but i loved it.
- The tomato puree and grinded mixture gives thickness for rasam.
- Add more water if necessary
- If you want you can add toor dhal.( but not necessary) .
- If so pressure cook 1/4 cup toor dhal with 1&1/2 cup water and add it.
