Paneer peas pulao

Serves -3

Pulao or biryani is always loved by most of us.Whenever I have leftover paneer after making some gravies out of it, I immediately make pulao or biryani or fried rice using it.Paneer in rice is really a good taste. Those soft cottage cheese you get between rice when you chew is great. With very less veggies it is so easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • Basmati rice -1cup
  • Water -1&1/2 cup
  • Paneer -10-15 cubes
  • Peas -1cup
  • Onion -1 large
  • Green chilli -4
  • Mint leaves -1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves -1/2 cup
  • Oil -2 tbsp
  • Cumin -1 tsp
  • Cinnamon -1 small stick
  • Cardamom 1
  • Bay leaf -1
  • Ginger garlic paste -1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Salt -To taste

Method:

  • Soak basmati rice for 30 mintues.Slice the onion and slit the green chilli.
  • In a pan add oil,Followed by whole spices.
  • Then add onion, salt and saute for 2 mins.Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder and sauter for a while.
  • Add green chilli, peas followed by chopped mint and corriander leaves.
  • Add Paneer cubes and water.
  • Finally add soaked basmati rice when water boils.
  • If you are pressure cooking give 2-3 whistles.
  • I used Rice cooker.

Notes:

  • Soaking basmati rice gives you soft and separate grains of rice, also it consumes less water for cooking.
  • You can add butter finally (its purely optional).
  • I used frozen peas.So no problem when I cooked it in rice cooker.
  • If it is fresh peas, first cook the peas and then add.
