Mint chilli chutney

Myself and my husband used to go to one hotel in Ambattur.I like the pudina/mint chutney served in that hotel.From that time onwards I always use to try that chutney just by guessing the ingredients in it.But cannot even match the taste of it.I found this recipe in net and tried it.Though it din't match the taste of that chutney it was different from usual mint chutney and a perfect combination for idli and dosa.

Ingredients:


  • Mint/pudina -1 cup
  • Green chilli - 5 nos
  • Coconut -2 tbsp
  • Tamrind -Small marble size
  • Salt -To taste
  • Sugar -A pinch

To temper:

Oil -2 tsp
Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
Urad dhal -1/4 tsp
Red chilli -1 no
Asafoetida -A pinch

Method:


  • In a pan add oil followed by green chilli,
  • Then add Mint leaves tamrind and saute mint leaves gets cooked.Add salt and sugar.
  • Add coconut and grind it.
  • Add little water while grinding.
  • Temper it with items given under 'to temper'.





Notes:


  • You can reduce green chilli if you feel that it is very spicy.
