Black channa sundal
Serves -3
Sundal is rich in protein.Good for health and easy to make.This is my mom's recipe.I feel that this is the best method as one cannot throw away ginger and green chilli in it.Do try this.
Ingredients:
- Black channa -1cup
- Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
- Salt -To taste
To grind:
- Ginger -1 inch piece
- Green chilli - 1
- Coconut -1/4-1/2 cup
- Coriander leaves -2 tbsp
To temper:
- Oil -1 tsp
- Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
- Urad dhal -1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves -1 spring
- Asafoetida -1/4 tsp
Method:
- Soak channa overnight and pressure cook it with 2-3 cups of water, salt and turmeric powder for 3 whistles.
- In a mixie grind all the ingredients given under 'to grind'.
- In a pan temper the items given under 'to temper',and add cooked channa.
- Then add the grinded mixture and stir well.
- Check for salt and serve.
Notes:
- Green chilli which I used was less in spice so I used two.
- Add salt carefully as we have already added salt in channa while pressure cooking it.
